I have some songs in mind, but I’m afraid to say so here now because that feels committal, and things are turbulent enough in life right now that I don’t feel I can commit to anything!
However I will say that I’m thinking of doing all covers on a 4-track, thus limiting myself to that medium. So expect lofi bedroom pop versions…
I love this! I used to do “Late Night Bathroom Music,” after my son went to sleep, but in my current apartment there’s a vent and I worry I’m broadcasting it straight to my neighbors. I’d love to resurrect that series.
Maybe a bit obscure, but the only one I have in mind so far is “Box 25/4 Lid” by Soft Machine. I might continue my occasional series “Depunked”, where I do punk covers on the ukulele.
I hear you!
(though not through the vent)
The problem with the Attic is that it’s not insulated and has no heat or A/C. So there are certain times of year when it’s either far too hot or far too cold to be up there playing guitar. Even some of the more recent vids I did over the last couple of months, you can see my sunglasses sliding down my nose from the sweat…so I may need to find another visually interesting “set.”
I was thinking I might keep mine under my hat, but I can’t resist joining in the conversation, so…
I have a bunch of almost-done covers that I’ve been singing at open mics every so often. By ‘almost-done’, I mean, the music is finished (barring any tweaks I might want to make), and they could be posted if I just got off my butt and put down a lead vocal.
These include but are not necessarily limited to:
“The Model” - Kraftwerk
“Hey Joe” - popularized by Jimi Hendrix
“The Unforgettable Fire” - U2
“The Chauffeur” - Duran Duran
“You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You’re Drunk” - Pet Shop Boys
“The Metro” - Berlin
“Radioactivity” - Kraftwerk
I like Frente’s version but I have to align myself with the New Order side on this one. I think their version is one of the greatest pop songs ever recorded. It’s one of those songs where I feel like every note, every beat, every sound is flawless.
I had the idea with a friend from Florida to put together a Jenny Lewis cover band. I don’t think it’s gonna happen, but I have a list of songs I wanted to cover… So I guess that’s the direction I’ll be heading!
I can imagine! Full disclosure, I’m a more of a writer than a musician, and my skills have never really progressed to performance-level. Even at open mics, I’m working with backing tracks-- so for me, that kind of thing doesn’t come into play. Good lord, the things that you people with actual talent have to contend with lol!
Spent some time going through chord sheets I’ve written up and updated my list of uke covers I want to make soon, as many before Nov. 1 as possible. A lot of these are requests from YT subscribers or my Patreon Patrons.

Last time I checked I had almost 1500 covers and originals on YT already, but it’s been a while since I’ve had a strong run of covers, due to all the originals I’ve been posting, so I’m excited (which is why I’m starting before October).
