im a mathis fan, even got to see him once in concer, yet i dont know this song and do know dozens of others.this doesnt sound like the kind of song he usually does. next to nat king cole , he was the most romantic of the african americans who had hits with lamerican sandards, some examples are misty, the twelfth of never, nature boy, and unforgettable. ok, so now i hve listened to it on youtube wher e it has had 10 million views. apparently he did it for a christmas album , i just listened to it and it wasnt typical of his style, although he did several christmas albums. the song was #1 in england in 1976, and he was past his prime by then, your version of the song is much better,
Big fan of Johnny Mathis - the most romantic singer ever - “Chances Are” - but don’t know this one either, although I only knew Christmas songs we sang at school cuz my family didn’t celebrate Christmas while I was growing up. I listened to it now and I can hear some Johnny Mathis in your version.
