Video Games by Lana del Rey

Wow, Bill, this is stunning! Your guitar playing is so lovely on this and your vocal delivery is so emotive – has a wonderful gentle pleading quality to it. You wring out the emotion and beauty in this song – this is everything one could want in a cover!

Knowing your love of all things Lana, the biggest compliment I can pay here is that you’ve captured the soul of the original whilst also making the song distinctively your own. Stripping it down like this also emphasises the brilliance of the writing.

thank you david. i wasnt completely happy with my version, but it does work somewhat in its own way. id rather hear lana sing it any day, though. incidentally, it is the only song from a female point of view that i found neccessary to change the gender of.

Just re-read the lyrics and can see why you felt you had to adapt them. A duet version with you and Lana… now that’s what I’d love to hear any day!

i would love to do a duet with lana, i saw a video recently of her singing diamonds and rust with joan baez. id love to sing on one of her songs, or to get her to sing the chorus on this one of mine Pink Lipstick | bill white and kate stanton | Bill White

Knowing how much i love lana, my daughter learned say yes to heaven and told me she could sing it just like lana. and she came pretty close. then she sang it in her own voice, which i told her i liked better.
