I mean, I’m Canadian. You can’t listen to a rock station without hearing the Guess Who from time to time. I take solace in the fact that Burton Cummings didn’t have to sing and play at the same time. Holy cow, the guitar line that Randy Bachman wrote is hard. This is a weak approximation. Also, ouch on the vocal break. Ah well. It was worth a try. Or in this case, about 8 takes before I got something usable, and this after 2+ weeks of playing it over and over again to even get close to playing the guitar part somewhat correctly.
not being canadian, i never realized how popular they were. i always liked it when their hits came on over the radio, but never sat down and listened to one of their albums. im going to have to rectify that. the guitar part does sound difficult, but your vocals go down easy, as usual.
Love this song! Burton Cummings has an amazing voice (and he did sing and play piano at the same time occasionally). I think you sound great, too - you nail those big vocal notes (and falsetto!), and the acoustic guitar really brings out the cool chord changes. Thoroughly enjoyed!
