Kris was the only person whose life i would rather have lived than my own. he did all the things i wanted to do but didnt. and was excellent in every thing he undertook. he lived a long, good life…but no life is ever long enough. he left us plenty to remember him by…his film roles in pat garrett and billy the kid, cisco pike , and a star is born,a sheaf of unforgettable songs and live performances.
Great song choice! Loved him in “A Star is Born,” although there are conflicting stories about how/why Elvis didn’t do it. I was in that dressing room where supposedly Elvis and Barbra Streisand discussed it. But I digress - nice tribute to Kris!
Jerry Schilling told us about the importance of those dressing room talks but Barbara tells a story how Elvis was far more interested in picking up one of his girlfriends at the airport than the movie - lol!
Not sure which is more enjoyable - your rendition or getting a tantalising glimpse of famous dressing rooms via @sbs! I wasn’t aware of this song, so checked it out quickly before listening to yours. I think, if anything, you’re imbuing it with more world weariness, which feels very in keeping with the lyrics. Great tribute, RIP KK.
i think you are right, if only because kristofferson as young an inexperienced when he recorded that song, which opened up a career in songwriting for him, as it was a hit for both ray price and johnny cash. it appeared on kristoffersons first album, and he had no confidence as a singer. soof course, at 73, i am more world wery than this young man was at the start of his career. he wrote some great songs at that time, though, and soon became as world weary as i am now.
well done Bill…we have talked about Kris before. His life was filled with a garnet of amazing accomplishments but his genius as a song writer was a stand out!
