The last day! This has been so fun! What do ya’ll do after Rocktober?
id probably like taylor swift more if she had the honesty in her voice that you hsve in yours.
You must not be listening to all the right songs! I am in awe of her emotional songs!! I didn’t realize just how emotional she sings until I tried singing along on Smule and noticed how flat mine sounded in comparison. Give her more listens.
I was surprised when I ran across this Taylor Swift song. It’s moving to think about her writing this for her mom/for herself about the experience. Very nice cover. Her songs can be hard to sing but your voice fits well into the range of the song in this key.
What I’m doing after Rocktober is what I do all year round. More covers, more originals! And specifically Dec. 1 through Jan. 6 I post an “Ukulele Advent Calendar” with one song per day.
@newukenewyork Thanks, Jenny! She won’t sing this one at concerts. Too sad.
I look forward to hearing more of your songs throughout the year.
I’m not a huge Swiftie but I like a lot of her songs, I admire her work ethic and her position as a positive role model for young women and girls.
This is one of my favourites of her songs, the detail in the lyrics is so personal and yet totally relatable. I listened to it a lot during my dad’s cancer diagnosis and treatment, but not so much since losing him in June 2022. Lovely to hear your version, I’ll stick with this instead of Taylor.
Are you continuing with the covers or are you having a break? You made such a fantastic contribution during October so would be great to hear more.
Thank you, @JoeyCyclone .
I’m sorry to hear about your dad.
Thanks for asking about my covers… I have a pretty crazy busy next couple months so can’t do them nearly as often, but hopefully every week or so. I just uploaded one today. I’m sorry in advance for having less time to listen and comment too.
I started running track and field as a Masters (“older”) athlete and have my first meet this Saturday doing pole vault and high jump with only a couple months training… Plus I teach a book class at my homeschool co-op and will be editing, formatting and publishing ten kid books this next couple months. I also owe finishing songs to like six co-writers.
Oh my goodness, you are one of those super humans who have more hours in the day than the rest of us!
As for pole vault and high jump, they are the two field events that I always end up with my jaw on the floor thinking ‘how???!!!’ The throwing events the average person could have a go at, and even long jump (not that long mind you), but I have no understanding of my own centre of gravity to comprehend how to propel up and over.
Anyway, I look forward to hearing anything you get time for
I am such a fan of Taylor Swift’s writing and her musical career. She has worked really hard to get where she is musically and it really shows. This song is so tender and obviously from the heart. She also has a song called “Rowan” that I can’t listen to without crying - and I don’t think she plays that one live. I enjoyed your tender emotive vocals - very pretty cover!
@sheslin yes! Such a talent! Rowan is such a heartbreaking song. Especially when you learn the back story.
Thank you for your sweet compliment.
