She's In Love With The Boy - Trisha Yearwood

I have always loved this song - great story telling and the twist at the end where it comes full circle always gets me.

This is a favorite of my husband’s, and while I like Trisha Yearwood, I never really liked this song until now. Your vocals give it something that was lacking with Trisha. Nicely done!

i agree with kathy to the degree that what makes this such great storytelling is the way you tell it rather than in the story itself. the story is a generic one of a girl whose father disapproves of her boyfriend…but susan gives it a heightened emotional pitch that makes us care about the people in the song more than the story itself. i felt the same way about martha coolidge’s film, valley girl…which told the story of a girl whose friends did not approve of her punk rok boyfriend, but nick cage and debbie foreman were so emotionally invested in their characters that the audience really cared about them and their situation.

Great overdubbing - : )

You could probably sing harmony licks I was thinking to myself, and then - there it was at 2:07 ish lol! Heck, add a 3-4 Note turn around : ) and then, what the heck - add a 2-beat Bass 1, 5 Notes of the Chord (acoustic guitar can pull that off for you, no need to buy a Bass : ) lol!)

I haven’t heard this song in ages. I can’t say that I was ever a fan of Trisha Yearwood, but this song certainly hits a huge nostalgia nerve for me as it was everywhere when I was a kid in the early 90’s.

I love songs that take me back, and this was an unexpected trip. Thank you for that.

I had forgotten about this song. It’s got a lot of feeling to it. Great guitar and vocals and nice build up to each chorus.

Wow you have such good ears - you totally figured out the bass on the acoustic dropped and octave. It is also fun that the harmonies kicked in just when you were looking for them. Thanks so much for listening and for your comment - I love breaking down songs like this. You made my day!

Great job S. Very nice vocals and the panning on the guitar adds a lush sound.
