Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands, by cover by Whitey black

i chose this as an opener because i think it is his masterpiece, alth9ugh commonly misconstrued as a love gift to his wife sara, it is much more than that. trying to impress alan ginsberg, he wrote a kadddish for the entire human race, he has never performed it before a live audience because the emotional crescendo of the images makes it near impossible to make it to the end of the song without breaking down. i worked on it for a long time before i was able to play it comlete from start to finish

Not familiar with this song but you can’t help but feel the emotion. I looked it up on YouTube and found several versions, including Joan Baez but your version really hits the feels! I feel like sobbing now so guess I’d better get my morning coffee.

An impressive start to Rocktober!

One of Dylan’s many masterpieces, and an impressive one even to make it all the way through! I’m singing along, I can’t resist.

nicely done! It’s certainly one of dylans’ ‘big’ songs for sure, and you do a great job at showing the beauty and mystery of it all. and …not a short song! what next- murder most foul? highlands? tempest? cross the green mountain? (that last one is underappreciated, I think) btw, do you know that story where a record co exec is asking Dylan if there’s a ‘short version’ of Highlands, and Dylan says ‘that IS the short version’

Love all the echo, it gives an otherworldly air to an already otherworldly masterpiece. My favourite moment in the original is that first swell on ‘My warehouse eyes, my Arabian drums’ - you really nail that bit. And overall, your emotional connection to the song really shines through. Great version, Bill.

Sitting outside after work with a whisky and the doggos while listening to this, and it is hypnotically soothing, like a Sunday afternoon.

Cross the Green Mountain is one of his best.

I usually stand at my computer to listen. But this time I had to sit. A hard swallow here Bill. You really delivered this one in all it’s wonder and soul.

Like many of the others, I took the time to sit quietly and listen, and get lost in your delivery. Fantastic version!
