Picture in a Frame - Tom Waits

Many attempts to record this song without the dogs barking in the background!

And I haven’t done a test upload so hopefully I get this right on the first go.

Lovely piano, beautiful vocals - both a bit haunting, which I love! Great song choice.

Beautiful piano playing and vocals. I like the contrast of the rhythmic piano and smooth vocals. What a pretty love song.

I like your take on this more than his (1999). I’m a fan of certain periods of his work - like the very early “demo” tracks 1v1g only - clean; not what I hear as over produced or adding in sound sources as if “expected”?, how to say that - and my preference.

And - if the dogs barked, at just the right time - even better! I’ve added in dogs barking!

Gosh that’s very kind of you to say! I was introduced to Tom Waits when I was about 12 and my cousin played me Swordfishtrombones, I’d never heard anything quite like it!! PIAF is a reminder to me that we don’t always need the big production numbers for a song to land. And that seems to be the very ethos of Rocktober too, where the one-take acoustic covers have so much impact, revealing that a good song and honest performance are sometimes enough.

I love piano songs. This is a great song and you have certainly done Justice ! There is a wide range of notes in this song and you sang them effortlessly. well done.
