I Dreamed a Dream, by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil

Such a unique rendition of this song. It’s as if it has been trapped inside the expectations of Les Mis for all these years and you’ve given it a new life.

thanks. you must remember when broadway musical numbers becaome hit songs in al the genres. that doesnt happen so much anymore. when singers approach a song like this, it is to duplicte the les miz style as closely as they are able, and its the perfect song for the starsearch crowd. i was approaching it with the attitude tom waits and janis joplin had when they did Summertime, or sinatra when he did old man river. all totally divorced from the original contexts … had i written the song, this is how i would do it. usually when a cover a woman’s song, i maintain that point of view, but here i reversed the point of view, which took it way out of the original context.
