Every time I hear John lennon sing this, I believe it to be the bravest song ever written. I dont disbelieve in all the things mentioned in the song, and dont believe john did either. the bravery is in seperating oneself and the things of personal importance from all the cultural, religious, and political bullshit in which we are mired. i added a few personal items to the list. without i hope disturbing the equilibrium of the original,
I believe you’ve captured the Lennon vibe well here. And I believe art is art - a song is a song - and it’s about delivery and performance, not an autobiography. Well done.
I agree with your assessment.
I still really miss John Lennon; I really think he was just finally coming into his true voice and way of being in the world when he was murdered.
I wonder what kind of things he might have accomplished if he had lived.
Anyway.
As I have said many times, I appreciate the passion you put into ever single performance.
It’s inspiring.
‘God is a concept by which we measure our pain’ has to be one of my all-time favourite lines. Love how you’re giving it absolutely everything in the ‘I don’t believe in’ section, especially with your personal additions. Makes your ‘I just believe in me and Estrella’ bit utterly convincing and beautiful.
