Georgia on my Mind, by Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell

another one from a rehearsal session with my 1979 cover band, the protectors

You did this song proud! I felt like I was right there. So glad you have these. How cool is that?

This is great… The feeling is perfect. Great vocal and what a contribution from the organ! The guitar solo is spot on. I like the way the brass add so much to this in a tasteful way. What a great band.

thanks roddy. i was in pretty bad shape in 1979. the punk scene has lost its integrity and my girlfriend moved to london, so i was floundering, and these guys put this band together to help me get back on my feet. a year later, i was back making original music with a new band whose members i did not know, but they had lost their singer and the sax player in the band had heard me singing at a party and looked me up, inviting me to join their band. that lasted a year, but i quit because the guys were too ambitious for my tastes and i moved to boston with the girl in our video , where i remained for the next 17 years before returning in 1998 to seattle to play rock and roll again after languishung on the new england folk circuit for too long.

Wow, that’s quite a story! You and music have a long roller coaster history together.

I’m enjoying hearing these old band recordings. Sounds great!! Hope you’re well in this new year.
