Every Day I Write The Book, by Elvis Costello

I like Elvis Costello but don’t know his work well, and this was one I didn’t recognize the title to, so I listened. the ghostly vocals sound like they’re calling to me across time. I like the pacing, too, how you take your time with it.

this was the hit from his 1983 album, punch the clock, which became my break up album that i listened to all the time after a major romantic rupture. after a two year seperation we became platonic friends and remain close to this very day. ive eveen taken her to a couple elvis costello concerts when i was working as a music critic for the daily newspaper in seattle.

Quite a different take from the original! I like the spooky sounding vocals too.

Great break-up version - so haunting. Cool that you’ve kept in touch with some exes. I think we all think about them no matter how in love we are in the present.

Interesting intro. It’s great that your ex girl friend have shared the great music of Elvis C. after the breakup .
Music is the glue that can hold us together for an ever ending bond.
