Don't You Want Me Baby? by The Human League

Our/my first Rocktober attempt. Mixed results but it exists and was great fun to do. Blake joined the 5090 ranks this summer and is a regular at my little open mic, Ramshackle Collective. We did this on a whim and loved it. (Blake is on guitar)

i really like your style on this… especially the o’s on the chorus. and your voices blend well together. it would be so much fun to see the two of you do it live.

Really love this Wobbie! And glad to see you here (it’s my first Rocktober so I haven’t got a clue what’s going on :joy:).

The slower tempo and the reflective guitar really draws out a sadness which I think is definitely in the lyrics but you don’t get with the more bombastic original. Like Bill says, your two vocals go so well together, I hope you have played or will play this at a Ramshackle, it’d go down a storm.

What a cool acoustic folk reimagining of a massive hit from my high school days!
I can imagine you two doing this at an open mic. And I like the blend of your voices. Good one, and super creative!

I love the laid back approach, and the creepy, controlling vibe of the first verse character comes through much more strongly than in the original. Cool interpretation.

I really enjoyed your version of this song, and how you re-imagined it. The gentle guitar works so well. I also like the slower pace. The vocals are really the star of this version, and how lovely to have harmonies also.

Real lovely! I agree with everyone, the two vocals work great, first introduced separately and then singing in ensemble. And the guitar playing is sweet and gives a poignant feel to the song!

Much as I love the original, there’s always the feeling in the vocal delivery that they really are better off without each other. Your version seems more full of regret and sadness, it’s a great retelling of the story. Lovely guitar arrangement too.
