Dirty Blvd by Lou Reed

You nailed the feel of that street that Reed had witnessed firsthand. Great cover Bill.

i experienced some of this album first hand as i was liivng in alphabet city during the tomkins park riots in 1989. but you really have to be a real new yorker to sing a lou reed song properly. the words just dont have the same impact withut the accent. the best i could do was try to keep the rhythms of the language right, but as for the intonations, i was at a loss. love the song though. i interviewed lou onthe ohone for a newspaper article and we both wanted to hang up on each other until the magic moment when i said something that only a dyed in the wool warhol fam from way back would have known…then he accepted me as more than a clueless, moronic journalist and started talking straight with me.

This is a new one to me. Cool way you kind of sing-speak the lyrics in the verses. Great vocal styling on the chorus. I like the circular chord progression - what a good song and I really enjoyed your cover Bill and great ending where you literally flew away from our ears.

Thanks for telling about your interview with him. I can imagine him being not easy

I think the only Lou Reef song I can think of is “Walk on the Wild Side” and I hear that style here. Cool interview story.
