A song from REO’s 1972 album R.E.O. T.W.O. which I first heard on their 1977 live album when I was 12 or 13. Some of their earlier stuff like this sticks with me in a weird way.
I hadnt heard this song before, but i love this solemn, dirgelike recording. I can understand how it might stick with someone through the years. it has an addictive quality that is hard to kick.
Super cool! Well done!
Don’t know the original so know idea if you have stayed true to it. My only knowledge of REO Speedwagon is some saccharine soft rock tracks in the early 80s.
But this is quite mesmerising and I love the vocal effects
Edit: most of the last sentence hadn’t posted originally and I’ve only just noticed when I came back for another listen! I’ve been mostly listening on a train today and songs/comments kept dropping out
Nice one! I wasn’t sure what to expect when seeing REO Speedwagon since I think the only thing I know of theirs must be Keep On Loving You. Anyway, this sounds great!
The old songs are now classics . Great vocals and piano playing…super cool production. This is a keeper!!
I appreciate you updating your comment! I was wondering. Yes, REO got the reputation for soft rock ballads in the 80s, because most of their hits were the ballads. But they had a rock side as well…and then there were tunes like these that kinda fall in between in a weird way. Glad you liked it!
I loved REO Speedwagon back in the day. but this song is new to me. Love the octave vocal doubles. Nice keys!
