Astronomy Domine (Pink Floyd cover)

This is a solo piano and vocal cover I did of Pink Floyd’s Astronomy Domine. This is taken from a recording I made of myself going over The Piper at the Gates of Dawn in its entirety. The recording was made on the 22nd of June 2024.

I sang and played my Yamaha PSR EW400. The speech at the opening is read by Microsoft Sam, and I used distortion and echo to obscure the words.

I wasn’t able to sing the falsetto notes in the refrain, so made do by singing them an octave down.

I’m trying to get a band together to perform this album. If this band works out and we record our rehearsals of the songs, I may post those.

excellent start to the ambitious project. looking forward to its completion. piper at the gates of dawn is also one of my favorite albums,

Ah, my second time hearing this today!!
Yeah, so nice!
Great interpretation of this awesome tune.
Your stripped-back version reveals the imaginative songwriting skills of one of my favourite artists (Syd) and one of my favourite bands (Floyd).

I’ve seen here and there criticisms of Floyd being “that sound effects band.” They should listen to this. Taken to basics it is just as captivating. I’m sure the interpreter helps with that, so well done to you. Hope you get that band together because I want to hear more.

I am amazed that this song can be done on a solo piano. But it works. The sound you get is very good including some nice bluesy bits.
