Had to do another “musical theater” performance, this one is also from “Chicago,” one of my favorites! I saw a live performance at the Tampa Performing Arts Center but the movie remains my favorite.
But it also makes me think of my grandmother who used to do the “Charleston” for us grandkids and why I dedicated “When You’re Good to Mama” to the women in my family. I’ve never laughed so hard in my life as I did when I was with them, but sadly, my grandmother, great aunts, and aunts are gone now. But I do a giggle out of the “girdle” line because my grandmother owned her own bra business. I’d sometimes accompany her when she went out for fittings and deliveries and did the boy cousins have fun with that - lol!
this starts out crazy and i like hoew you build on the craziness, never allowing it to flag and ultimately bringing it to a finale-like climax. i had tickets for chicago in charlotte but my girlfriend, who had lived there most of her life, couldnt find the theatre. i did like the movie though, the only bob fosse show i saw live was his final one, Big Deal, based on the italian caper comedy big Deal on madonna Street…in its boston previews before opening on broadway.
It’s wonderful when music connects you to loved ones and happy memories! This is a lot of fun, you’re really going for it with the vocal and it absolutely takes the listener with it
