Sweet Sir Galahad, by Joan Baez

Joan Baez wrote a handful of memorable songs. This one is my favorite among them. She wrote it for her sister Mimi’s second wedding, several years after her first husband, Richard Farina, died…during which Mimi was a traumatized mess. The song is filled with hope for the futue but does not avoid the sadness of her loss,.

Never a fan of Joan Baez. Her vocals are technically beautiful but no personality. She was everywhere back then but she bored me. You added the personal flair this song needed.

her singing got a lot better once she lost her voice. she had to learn to sing rather than wail. he had a lot of personality, or so i hear from thee friends who knew her, she was very kind, frinelym funny, and helped them in their careers. i couldnt stand hwe when she opened up her pipes and bleted out some mezzo soprano a capella gospel song. but she was an excellent guitarist, had good taste in choosing songs to cover, and wrote a few good ones herself. she was jealous of her sister mimi though, who was a guy magnet. a lot of the folksingers who hung around her house were there because of her sister, who she, out of jealousy, discouraged her pursuit of a musical career. a funny story, when bob dylan sent her a copy of his album freewheeling, joan told mimi, heres the new album by my goyfriend. mimi, retoreted, "if hes your boyfrind, who is the chick on the cover?|

Great story - love it! The “guy magnet” comment reminded me of what my mother said about her sister. What characters - they might have made an appearance in a novel or two - lol!
