Red River Valley

1st-pass, 1-takes on the phone is all I’m doing now for a while, and - record while writing as always.

I’m trying BandLalb’s “Embed” and hope it works since the URL Links overlay a generic “BandLab” Label Text that takes you there - so, crossing my fingers this works (put between dotted lines and the only thing showing up in Preview):

No, it does not show, it’s right - “here” - but not showng on this page so, use the URL link below if care to have a listen and feel free to leave comments there if care to.

  • In case their Embed HTML does not display (don’t see it in the “preview” here), here is the URL, and goes to that Track only:
  • I looks odd since is their name and not the track - but that’s the link - oh well, it’s “free”

So, why RRV? - This song I heard in a scene recently and stuck out (for me) - a dad singing to his young daughter, which stuck out to me for two reasons: he was doing a complex finger picking with a very silky smooth ballad “Sinatra” type vocal over it; and - this very old song has many versions (as many may know) - with many stories and tales tacked to it. So, since a long time fan of public domain rewrites, and etc. - knocked this out and gave it a “positive”, first person slant. I would love to load with neoclassic noodling’s - but, not doing that now. So, not the version I “hear in my head” but I’ll keep it around to play with.

What a lovely cover of this classic song. Great vocals and guitar. I am also in a simple phone recording mood post FAWM! Your recording sounded great BTW - nicely balanced!

Good to hear you again! An up-close-and-personal rendition here. You sound great - crisp guitar, wise and seen-some-life vocal.

Great tune…excellent sound and the vocals work so well on this recording. Movies scenes can trigger that vibe about a song…well done

Oh, thank you for the feedback, I very much appreciate it. Sometimes, it’s hard to know what direction is a “good” one, lol!

Hey, sounds great! This comes across practiced and polished, whether it was or not!

That means allot and is great feedback to get - sometimes I “feel” like I don’t play the guitar well, even after all these years (maybe we all have that “challenge”, to varying degrees). That was not practiced, so - thank you for feeling to comment that so specifically. That’s helpful!
