Definitely not a “rock” song but it’s still Rocktober.
An ukulele student asked me to arrange this for her using a cover by Broadway singer Laura Benanti (and, coincidentally, I met her producer yesterday) but Benanti inexplicably changed the lyrics to “On the Street Where I Lived,” which I thought nonsensical and a bad choice – so after giving an arrangement to my student, I changed the lyrics back to the original and recorded it myself.
I culd never have imagined this as ukulele song. What a great arrangement and vocal performance. A treat to listen to.
I think one could play this, “scream”, Metal and work (or just Metal) - good stuff. (Makes me think of the 1v1g acoustics of some of the KISS stuff, when they unmasked. I think many were “surprised” at how the “singer songwriter demo” track, of “it” sounded : ) lol! )
Anyway, I heard in my head, mind pictures, as leather bound rock, as you sang it - again, good stuff : )
I labor under the illusion that anything could be a ukulele song. ![]()
I also am intrigued by the idea of this being “scream” metal – would love to hear that!
what a choice. so lovely…. top film/songs

top work
i really enjoyed the way you sang and played this. i dound it more in the shirley jones than the julie andrews style. although i love both those singers, the former is more down to earth. if a person nows how to use the ukelele, then any song is worthy of its accompaniment.
Ah, takes me back to high school - we sang several songs from “My Fair Lady” for our spring concert. Nicely done! Beautiful!
Thank you all! Bill, I love Julie Andrews’ voice and delivery but find her “cool-toned” and almost arch in a way I cannot emulate well. That is NOT a criticism of her. I really like her style.
