I’m realizing that what I really do is just bad karaoke.
Especially when I’m not an expert musician who can recreate tracks well. So instead of struggling through all the F chords in this song on my guitar, and since it’s so late… tonight I realized I can sing to an instrumental track on the karaoke app Smule. It might be kind of cheating the concept of “cover” but here is my Day Four song, REO Speedwagon’s Keep on Loving You.
Wow! I love this! The way I see it, we work on whatever part of music we want to. If you want to express yourself through the vocals only, nothing wrong with that. I do that often. Vocals are my main instrument and doing covers helps me explore and improve.
This sounds really good. Very good vocal. I agree with @sbs, you can make music in any way you like.
Thank you both
I’m glad it didn’t break some Rocktober rule.
Rules?! Have we got rules?! ![]()
Echoing what the others have said, for me this group is about learning new songs in whatever way works for me. That includes interpreting a song in a different way to the original, practicing a new recording technique or testing what songs work with my voice, I think using karaoke tracks for that is perfect.
And another lovely vocal performance from you, although I was singing along too!!
I appreciate that. Thanks!!! It’s certainly a catchy song!!
