Eve of Destruction, by P F Sloan

Phil wrte this song as a mantra, petitioning the lord to save humanity from destroying itself. it was written ss a b side for barry maguire’d phi sloan’s A side Whats Exactly the Matter With Me, a song Barry loved. he hated Eve of Destruction. but a radio jock played the wrong side and was overwhelmed with telephone calls, and soon radio stations aeound the country were playing this B side as the A side and it bacame a cassic, while the intended A side was soon fogotten. teve Barrie has a co write credit, but he contributed nothing to this, or any other of Phils songs to which he was credited.

Isn’t that the way it goes - it seems the songs of mine I love, well, they don’t get the attention I think they should. And the throwaway songs are the more popular ones. Same with my novels.

This has always been a favorite - you give it more of a softer, thoughtful sound. Kinda like Springsteen. Does that even make sense? I looked it up to see if that was a thing and one album of his was described as - "Roy Orbison meets Eve of Destruction.”

well, eve of estruction moves between a D and a G chord for most of it, as does springsteen’s Thunder road.

Interesting. Just listened to it and it hit me how much you and Springsteen have a similar sound sometimes.
