Come As You Are by Nirvana

Great song choice Bill! I had not thought about this song in a while, and it was so nice to hear your version to remind me what a cool song it is. I really like this as an acoustic cover - the lyrics and vocals can really shine and I can understand all the words. Well done!

A melancholic approach does very well for this song.

Truly a great song, perfect for your voice, and I like the gravelly quality you’ve given it. It sounds more thoughtful, in a way, than the original (which I also like).

Ah, great cover, I love the acoustic treatment! Reminded me of another cover of this song that I love:

Great interpretation of a great song!

I always like to hear covers that are very different than the original (from the original?).
I find it difficult to cover Nirvana; too many weird chords.
Really excellent job covering this tune from one of my favourite bands.

i never liked nirvana, but this is a solid song that stayed with me. rather than play their weird chords, i just put on a lot of distortion and played way into the red.

Distortion and confidence have covered many musical sins.
Speaking for myself, of course.

It’s odd, but until I listened to your version I’m not sure I’d fully appreciated how sinister this song is. As great a singer as Cobain was, he wasn’t the clearest, and there was also always a kind of gentle, lullaby quality in how Nirvana performed the song (to me anyhow - like you I wasn’t a proper fan of theirs at the time). I also always found myself focusing on the riff (maybe this is PTSD from having to listen to my son practice it on guitar :joy:). This was therefore a very refreshing listen - cheers!
